Fitting and care

The glass prosthetic eye is manufactured individually and fitted for each patient. Here, the personal presence of the patient is obligatory, as this is the only means of ensuring that an ocularist examines and checks the eye socket. Only then is it possible to manufacture the exact shape precisely. Besides that, the appearance and comfortable fitting must be in accordance with ocular prosthetic requirements. The most important factor is patient satisfaction. Only personal consultation allows an ocularist to respond to all the patient’s questions and desires and achieve an optimum result. Beyond technical factors, personal fears and insecurities are discussed and solutions found. Here, the ocularist must carry out a very special task, as besides technical precision, ocular prosthetics are a very sensitive topic for patients. The loss of an eye and the associated prehistory means that there are deep psychic wounds beside the physical ones, and these only heal slowly.

Trust is the key for a compassionate consultation and contribute to patient rehabilitation.
